Emily Hindrichs

Emily Hindrichs studied at the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Exeter, and the New England Conservatory, after which she was a member of Seattle Opera's Young Artist Program and the Tanglewood Music Center. She is a winner of numerous competitions, the Sullivan Foundation Award and the Washington International Competition, and won the Les Azuriales Opera Competition in France. Since the 2013/14 season, the young American soprano has been an ensemble member at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where her roles have included the Queen of the Night, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Le Feu in L'enfant et les sortilèges, the title role in Stravinsky's Le Rossignol,Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, and Costanza in Handel's Riccardo Primo.

In September 2013 she sang Glière's Concerto for Coloratura Soprano and Orchestra at the Barbican Center, and in the fall of 2013 she made a guest appearance at the Frankfurt Opera as the Queen of the Night. Emily Hindrichs has been heard internationally in this role with English National Opera, Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Seattle Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, and New Orleans Opera, among others. Debuts as Micaela in Carmen, Anne Trulove in The Rake's Progress and as Konstanze have taken her to the Opéra Théâtre St. Étienne and the Conneticut Early Music Festival, among others.

Emily Hindrichs is a sought-after lied and concert singer, having performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the International Bach Academy Stuttgart under Helmuth Rilling, the American Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, and the Seattle Symphony. At the start of the 2015/16 season, she joined the ensemble at Oper Köln, where she sings Musetta, Teresa, and Adela in the world premiere of Tree of Codes, among other roles. Plans for the 16-17 season include her debuts as Cunégonde (Candide) and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), and appearances at the HELLERAU Tonlagen Festival and the ACHT BRÜCKEN Festival with Ensemble Musikfabrik.
