Yamuna Bodyrolling

Veronique Spiteri

Yamuna Bodyrolling (YBR) is a holistic bodywork system. It combines fascia training and yoga principles to help re-align your body, strengthen your core and improve mobility in your joints and muscles.

With the help of specially designed Yamuna balls you systematically “roll” through your whole body, starting at the feet up to the base of your skull. “Rolling” is a combination of breathing, bearing your body weight onto the ball and rolling the ball from the origin of the muscle to its insertion. Rolling almost always begins on the bone and continues out in the direction of the muscle fibres. This brings about a deeper and more effective release of the connective tissues, tendons and muscles.

The Yamuna balls come in different sizes to accommodate the different parts of your body, there are also foot wakers, 2 half dome shaped balls for your feet.

Learning how to use the balls, in much the same way that a manual therapist uses his hands, increases your body awareness and teaches you how to help yourself. “Learning how to help yourself” is the central message of Yamuna Zake´s work.

YBR is a powerful self-care tool for any performing artist.

This workshop is an introduction to Yamuna Body Rolling with a focus on back, hips and overall posture and alignment.
